Representative Jim Abeler Named Health & Human Services Committee Chair
ST. PAUL—State Representative Jim Abeler (R-Anoka) was named Chair of the House Health and Human Services Finance Committee this Wednesday. As a recognized leader in health care policy, Abeler takes the lead after serving in the position of vice chair for the past two years.
“Rising HHS costs are a significant driver of the budget deficit. We need to get spending under control and create the reforms our citizens deserve. By putting priorities first, we can contain costs while still providing the services Minnesotans have come to expect,” said Abeler.
Abeler and his majority colleagues are committed to bringing responsibility back to government and job growth back to Minnesota. Abeler will lead a fair, open and accessible committee focused on innovation and results. Instead of government-run health care, Abeler advocates patient-centered reforms for affordability, quality and value in the health care marketplace.
“Health care is a large part of our state budget and an important concern for Minnesota families. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues of both parties and with citizens on this critical issue.
