FERGUS FALLS – As chairman of the Minnesota House committee on higher education, State Rep. Bud Nornes, R-Fergus Falls, congratulates numerous Minnesota community colleges – including two in the region – for their high national rankings in a recent survey.

The nation-wide poll was conducted by personal finance website WalletHub, which based its rankings on factors such as education outcomes, career outcomes, affordability and more. Alexandria Technical & Community College leads Minnesota with a fourth-place ranking, while Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls stands sixth. In total, four Minnesota schools are in the top 10 and seven cracked the top 20.

“Minnesota has a proud tradition of excellence in higher education and community colleges fill a vital role in the equation,” Nornes said. “The schools that made this list deserve to be proud of their efforts. At the Legislature, we have worked to make educational more affordable through workforce development scholarships and other means, while also making higher education more accessible to people who may not have been candidates the past. It is good to see our schools receive this recognition as we continue efforts to make our system even better.”

Overall, ranks Minnesota second behind South Dakota in Wallet Hub’s national ratings of statewide community college systems. The complete survey results can be found by visiting www.wallethub.com.
