As we now near the end of July, I hope you and your family had a great Independence Day and are enjoying your summer! It has been great seeing so many of you out and about in our community in recent weeks.
CSG Midwest Conference
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Council of State Governments (CSG) Midwest Legislative Conference in Winnipeg, Canada. The conference brought together over 400 state and provincial lawmakers to strengthen cross-border relationships and discuss the issues faced by legislatures across the midwestern United States and Canada. It also provided me and my colleagues with the unique opportunity to share ideas for various legislative solutions to issues such as healthcare, education, criminal justice, economic development, and NAFTA.

Freeway Landfill Hearing
On Wednesday, I attended a Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) hearing on the Freeway Landfill in Burnsville. The cleanup of the landfill remains an important issue to our community; I am committed to continuing to work to secure funding to properly clean up the landfill in order to protect our residents and local natural resources as well as help ease the cleanup costs that are passed on to local taxpayers.

Although we’re out of session for the biennium, I hope you will continue to contact my office.
