State Bonding Bill one step away House and Senate pass bill, awaits Governor's signature

Rep. Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park/Coon Rapids) commended the members of the House of Representatives for passing the state bonding bill on Wednesday night. Included in the bill is $37.5 million in funding for the Northstar Corridor.
"I feel very pleased and very proud to be a member of the House today," said Hortman. "We have worked long and hard for many years to see this day come."
Hortman addressed the members of the House, and on behalf of herself and Rep. Denise Dittrich (DFL-Coon Rapids/Champlin), thanked the members of the Conference Committee, Speaker of the House Steve Sviggum, Minority Leader Matt Entenza, and the members who voted for the passage of this bill.
"This is very exciting news for our area," said Hortman. "We have demonstrated that by working together we can get things done."
Also included in the bill is $10.483 million in funding for the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge building, another proposal that Hortman authored and advocated for. "Any investment in education offers a statewide benefit, not just for our area," said Hortman.
The bonding bill was passed by the Senate later on Wednesday night and has now moved to the Governor for his signature. Although the Governor does have line-item veto power, Hortman does not believe that he will make any changes.
"I appreciate the support that the Governor has indicated for the Northstar Corridor funding," said Hortman.
"Even though this bill is one year late, we are very pleased. Better late than never."
