Lueck encourages farmers to seek state flood assistance

Wednesday, July 11, 2018

AITKIN – State Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, urges farmers impacted by recent flooding to take advantage of zero-percent loans that are available for clean-up efforts not covered by insurance.

A disaster declaration has been issued for the Red Lake Nation and 36 counties in Minnesota, including Aitkin in Lueck’s District 10B. The Disaster Recovery Loan Program through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture will be available to assist farmers with flood-related clean-up, repair, and replacement costs that are not covered by insurance. The program is administered through the Minnesota Rural Finance Authority, which is funded by the Legislature.

“Friends and family are there to help out one another on the ground, but finances play a part in disaster recovery and this program can ease some of that burden,” Lueck said. “There are enough things to think about when disaster strikes, so I hope people will look into this program as a way to help the situation. I also am here to assist in my legislative role by answering questions and pointing people in the right direction.

Constituents are encouraged to contact the RFA for more information by calling 651-201-6004, or by visiting www.mda.state.mn.us/agfinance. Lueck’s office can be reached by calling 651-296-2365 or by email at rep.dale.lueck@house.mn.

The other counties receiving the disaster declaration include Becker, Beltrami, Blue Earth, Brown, Carlton, Cass, Clearwater, Cottonwood, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Jackson, Kittson, Lake, Lyon, Mahnomen, Martin, Mille Lacs, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Pine, Pipestone, Polk, Red Lake, Redwood, Renville, Rock, Sibley, Stearns, Stevens, St. Louis, Waseca and Watonwan.
