RELEASE: Rep. Layman Legislation To Officially Become Law

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

SAINT PAUL, MN – On July 1, legislation authored by Rep. Sandy Layman, R-Cohasset, will officially take effect. The bill, HF3763, clarifies current statute relating to the Douglas J. Johnson (DJJ) economic protection trust fund. The change ensures money in the fund is only used for the benefit of the Taconite Assistance Area and shall not be expended, appropriated, or transferred from the fund for any other purpose.

“I’m pleased to have passed this bill with the support of my colleagues, and to see it officially become law in our state on July 1,” said Layman. “This is an important change to ensure DJJ funds are used for their intended purpose within the Taconite Assistance Area.”

HF3763 passed unanimously in both the House and the Senate, and was signed by Governor Dayton.
