Statement from Rep. Jim Knoblach re: Gov. Dayton vetoing omnibus bills

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

ST. PAUL – Rep. Jim Knoblach, R-St. Cloud, issued the following statement regarding Gov. Mark Dayton’s announcement Wednesday he is vetoing omnibus tax/school funding and supplemental budget bills (H.F. 947, S.F. 3656) the Legislature presented to him after final passage last weekend.

“As I have said, it is an indisputable fact that by vetoing these bills, the governor would be inflicting harm and chaos on literally millions of Minnesotans,” Knoblach said. “Unfortunately, that is the path he chose and I hope he realizes the damaging consequences his vetoes will cause for the people of our state, including numerous local provisions that he is taking down. The addition of a third lane each way on I-94 from Clearwater to Monticello, is just one example. We met him more than halfway by agreeing to 75 of the 123 demands he made to us this last Friday and Saturday, many if not most of which were new demands presented just a few days before our constitutionally required adjournment date.”
