Legislative update (3-29-18)

Thursday, March 29, 2018

Dear Neighbor,

I wish you and your family a blessed Easter/Passover holiday and hope you are able to spend extra time in the company of friends and loved ones this weekend.

The Legislature will be away from St. Paul next week, meaning more time to meet with constituents. That includes during a town hall meeting Sen. Utke and I will be co-hosting 6:30 p.m. next Thursday (April 5) at the Frazee fire hall. That will be a good opportunity to talk about what has taken place so far this session and to touch on what remains before we are set to adjourn the third week in May. I hope to see you there.

As for news from the Capitol this week, the bill I authored to penalize people who misrepresent their pets as service animals passed the House 125-0 on Monday. Sen. Eichorn’s companion bill also passed the full Senate. A conference committee will be working to iron out the differences in language between the two bills and, once that work is complete, we will be taking it up for votes on final passage. Stay tuned.

Until next time, please be safe if your holiday plans involve traveling.

Sincerely,

Steve
