Dear Neighbors,

We’re back in the swing of the legislative session. We have just 12 weeks to finish our work, and I’m confident we’ll get there.

As you know, one of my passions in the legislature is fighting the opioid epidemic. This work really seems to be paying off in a big way. A positive sign is coming next week, as we host the second annual Opioid Awareness Day at the Capitol. We had an amazing event last year where survivors, families impacted by opioid abuse, doctors, police officers, and more came to the Capitol to say we’ve had enough. You can click here to see a video from last year.

This event is coming up next week, Thursday, March 1. Here's a link to more information about the day, as well as a schedule of events.

I’m hopeful my bill, the Opioid Family Recovery Act (HF1440) will receive its first committee hearing that day. I’ve put in a request with the committee chair, and would love to present this bill on Opioid Awareness Day.

If you’re interested in attending, please contact my office; I’d love to help you coordinate your visit to St. Paul. If you have questions about the event or about my bill, don’t hesitate to call or email my office.

Have a great weekend, and see you on March 1.

Dave
