Roseau, MINN—Rep. Dan Fabian, R-Roseau, attended a White House Conference on Rural Prosperity on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 led by United States Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, United States Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, and a number of other federal, state and local leaders from across the nation. Vice President Pence also attended and spoke on the importance of rural economies. Discussions focused around trade, infrastructure, technology, and strengthening rural economies.

“It’s heartening to see the Trump Administration recognizing how vital a strong rural economy is to our nation, having already taken action on a number of key issues in their first year. Farmers, ranchers, Main Street businesses, manufacturers and families are the heart of rural America, and at the federal level they are taking steps to improve our rural economies,” said Rep. Fabian.

“During the meeting we discussed a number of issues including reducing burdensome regulations, rural workforce needs, affordable energy, commodity pricing, pipelines and improving our infrastructure. Northern Minnesota is a great contributor to our country in agriculture, mining, timber, and more, and I am pleased that leaders in Washington D.C. are receptive and supportive of many Greater Minnesota priorities.”
