Update from St. Paul

Friday, February 9, 2018

Dear Neighbor,

The 2018 session is only 11 days from starting and I am looking forward to taking on the challenges this year presents. I’ll take a closer look at those issues in another email soon.

For now, I want to pass along congratulations to a couple of groups from District 12B. First of all, congrats to Central Livestock, which has a market in Albany, for recently receiving national recognition during a trade show in Phoenix.

Central Livestock was named the National Beef Quality Assurance award winner in the Marketer category during the National Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show last week. The National BQA Award recognizes outstanding beef and dairy producers, marketers and educators that best demonstrate animal care and handling principles as part of the day-to-day activities on their respective operations.

It is nice to see a good company with local ties receive recognition. Their Albany market is very important to people in our area, especially considering the significant presence cattle have in Stearns County and in our region of the state in general.

Also, congratulations to the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan in Sauk Centre for earning a $50,000 Legacy Amendment grant from the Minnesota Historical Society.

Nice job to those who put together this successful grant, which will allow the church to hire qualified professionals to rebuild the chancel wall in the church, listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Funding for the grant is from the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. In fiscal year 2018, $4.5 million is available for projects such as these which pertain to history programs, projects or preservation of resources.

Sincerely,

Paul
