Legislative Update from Rep. Anna Wills

Friday, January 26, 2018

Friends,

March for Life

Despite the snowstorm on Monday, the Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) March for Life was once again an important and moving event. Over a thousand Minnesotans gathered from across the state in support of the cause of life. Below is a picture of the gathering at the Capitol in St. Paul, which I attended. This is an important event every year and the Pro-Life movement is a cause that is dear to my heart.

DCTC Ribbon-Cutting

I was honored to be a part of the ribbon-cutting for DCTC's Transportation and Emerging Technologies Phase II. Senator Greg Clausen and I were proud to author the bonding bills that were signed into law in 2015 that made this project a reality. Their space is now right-sized and modernized to train students for high-paying and in-demand jobs here in Minnesota.

Dakota County Legislative Workshop

I joined the Dakota County Legislative Workshop for a great discussion about legislative priorities this morning with County Commissioners, County staff, and fellow legislators. I am proud to be a co-author on the bonding bill for the County's top priority: a mental health response training center for law enforcement that will benefit not only the region but the whole state of Minnesota.

Senate District 57 Legislative Listening Session

On Saturday, February 17th, I will be participating in a Legislative Listening Session with Senator Clausen and Rep. Erin Maye Quade. It will be at Falcon Ridge Middle School from 10:30am to 12:30pm. This is a great opportunity to share YOUR priorities and feedback with all of us. I hope you can make it!

Job Fairs!

Dakota County's unemployment rate is currently hovering below 3% for the months of November and December 2017, which is better than both the broader Minnesota and National numbers. This means employers are looking for help and we'll have two job fairs over the next couple weeks.

  • The "January Jump Start" will take place on Tuesday, January 30th from 8:30am to 12:30pm at the West. St. Paul Workforce Center Conference Rooms 110A&B. Register here
  • The DCTC & Inver Hills Career Fair will take place on Tuesday, February 6th, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at Inver Hill's Fine Arts Building. No registration is required and bring your resume! More information is available here

Interim Appointments

If you would like to meet with me to ask any questions or discuss a particular issue, my meetings will be held in-district during these weeks before the 2018 Session starts on February 20th. Simply use the same contact information for my office below, and we will find a time and place to meet in our community, or we can meet at my office in St. Paul as well.

As always, please don't hesitate to contact me with your comments, questions, and concerns. Email me anytime at rep.anna.wills@house.mn or call 651-296-4306. You can also follow my updates on Facebook at www.facebook.com/repannawills
