Capitol Update

Friday, January 26, 2018

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Here is an update with the latest news from the Capitol.

In this Issue:

  • City Council Meetings
  • March for Life
  • Listening Sessions
  • Peppin’s MinnTriv

City Council Meetings

This week, I attended city council meetings in both Dayton and Rogers to talk about the upcoming legislative session and community priorities for state government. I appreciated talking with our locally-elected leaders about issues important to our area and how we can continue to work together for our constituents. I will be attending an upcoming Maple Grove City Council meeting in the near future as well.

It’s incredibly valuable to gather feedback from leaders and residents in our community, as it helps me better represent our shared priorities at the Capitol. As we get closer to the start of the 2018 session next month, please don’t hesitate to reach out and share your ideas, concerns and input. I am here to serve you!

March for Life

On Monday, I joined legislators, faith leaders and citizens for March for Life at the State Capitol. Hosted by Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, it’s a pro-life rally on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. Thank you to everyone who braved that crazy weather on Monday to come down and support life!

Listening Sessions

Don’t forget to mark your calendars! I am hosting three joint listening sessions next month where we will be previewing the upcoming 2018 legislative session and gathering input and ideas from area residents.

The first will be in Maple Grove with Rep. Dennis Smith and Sen. Warren Limmer on Saturday, February 3rd. It will take place from 9-10 AM at the Maple Grove Community Center in Room 133 (12951 Weaver Lake Road).

Sen. Limmer will also be with me at the Dayton and Rogers stops. The Dayton Listening Session is on Tuesday, February 13 from 7:00-8:00 PM at the Dayton Senior Center (18641 Dayton Street), and the Rogers Listening Session is on Thursday, February 15 from 7:00-8:00 PM at the Rogers Community Room in the North Room (21201 Memorial Drive).

I hope to see you there!

Peppin’s MinnTriv

Thank you to everyone who participated in the last Peppin’s MinnTriv Question. Here is last week’s question: Which Purple People Eater was one of only two defensive players to have been awarded NFL MVP? The answer was Alan Page.

Congratulations to Darryl Brehmer from Rogers who is last week’s winner.

Here is this week’s question: This well-known Minnesota tourist attraction sits on the site of the former Metropolitan Stadium.

The SIXTH correct response will be featured in the next email update.
