Saint Paul -- Following the Office of the Legislative Auditor's report on the Office of the State Auditor that criticized Auditor Rebecca Otto's office for not thoroughly support its findings of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) firms it reviewed and not treating the CPA firms it reviewed with the standard due process and professional courtesy that is normally practiced in the audit industry, Sarah Anderson (R-Plymouth), chair of the State Government Finance Committee, released the following statement:
"This report, unfortunately, confirms the State Auditor has been unfairly targeting counties using CPA firms," said Chair Anderson. "It is disappointing but not surprising that Auditor Otto's Office did not treat the CPA firms it reviews with due process and professionalism. Our State Auditor should be above settling scores with counties choosing to use the services of CPAs rather than her office. Minnesotans expect more from our elected officials and deserve better."
