New Year, New Laws

Tuesday, January 9, 2018

Friends,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful time ringing in the new year and that your year is off to a great start. We'll be back in session on February 20th and I look forward to continuing to serve our community. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any thoughts or ideas you may have for our state government.

Recently, I had to the opportunity to sit down with House Information Services where we discuss many things including how I'm working to protect MN citizens from credit bureau fees related to a data breach or identity theft. That interview can be seen in full here

New 2018 Laws in effect January 1

While much of the great work we did during the 2017 Session went into effect later in 2017, a few laws went into effect on January 1st, 2018. Among the new laws that went into effect were uniform election dates, more specialty license plates, and two health-related reforms -- one will make it easier for patients to refill their prescription eye drops and another will allow home health care workers to count training for those who are hard of hearing towards their annual training requirements.

The full list of new laws from the 2017 Session is available here

In Case You Missed It: Tour around 52B!

Late last summer, we put together a video that highlights some of the great and beautiful parts of District 52B, which encompasses Inver Grove Heights, Sunfish Lake, parts of Mendota Heights and Eagan. I think it turned out very well and am proud to represent such a fantastic place to live. Check out the video here!

On this day in History

Thomas Paine published Common Sense, his case for American independence, in 1776. His case for independence is considered one of the most influential of the time and is still studied by students and scholars alike.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with me. You can schedule a time to meet with me in my office anytime by calling me at 651-296-4192, or share your thoughts by emailing me at rep.regina.barr@house.mn.

Happy New Year!
