Legislative Update from Rep. Anna Wills

Friday, January 5, 2018

Friends,

Welcome to 2018! I hope you had a great holiday season and a fun and safe time ringing in the new year. I spent some much-needed time relaxing with my family after a busy Christmas season full of gatherings with friends and extended family.

With the new year, the 2018 Legislative Session is right around the corner. It will begin February 20th and must end by May 21st. I look forward to continuing to serve you at the Capitol!

New 2018 Laws in effect January 1

While much of the great work we did during the 2017 Session went into effect later in 2017, a few laws went into effect on January 1st, 2018. Among the new laws that went into effect were uniform election dates, more specialty license plates, and two health-related reforms -- one will make it easier for patients to refill their prescription eye drops and another will allow home health care workers to count training for those who are hard of hearing towards their annual training requirements.

The full list of new laws from the 2017 Session is available here

Teen Police Academy

High-school students can learn more about law enforcement during the next session of the Teen Police Academy. It will run February 1 through March 15, each Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Applicants must be of high school age currently residing in or attending high school in Rosemount or Apple Valley. Applicants are subject to a background check. The deadline to sign up is January 26, and entry is free but space is limited. Register online here or contact Rosemount Police at 651-423-4491 for more information.

Interim Appointments

If you would like to meet with me to ask any questions or discuss a particular issue, my meetings will be held in-district during these months before next year’s session. Simply use the same contact information for my office below, and we will find a time and place to meet in our community, instead of traveling all the way to Saint Paul!

As always, please don't hesitate to contact me with your comments, questions, and concerns. Email me anytime at rep.anna.wills@house.mn or call 651-296-4306. You can also follow my updates on Facebook at www.facebook.com/repannawills

Happy New Year!

 Sincerely,
