Happy Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah to all my friends of the Jewish faith! I hope you have a wonderful holiday celebrating with loved ones and enjoying the season.

Minnesota’s #1

A study released this week by 24/7 Wall Street ranked Minnesota as the best run state in the nation. Our quality of life, low unemployment rate, and state credit rating contributed to our high ranking.

As Minnesotans who call this great state home, it comes with little surprise that we are getting national attention for the many great things we do. It is the hard working citizens of our state who make Minnesota #1. The role of government should be to create an environment in which Minnesotans can reach their dreams. That is why we passed middle-class tax relief, made smart investments in our students and schools, and worked to make our state government more efficient and effective.

Of course, there is always more we can do to improve our state and make sure it’s working for the people of Minnesota.  I will continue to support commonsense, fiscally-responsible policies that empower families, our community, and state.

Community Events

Steak Fry Friday is here! The Osseo-Maple Grove American Legion is hosting a steak fry tonight from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Legion located at 260 4th Ave. SE in Osseo. The cost is $10 for steak, shrimp or fish dinner or $12 for a combo plate. The menu also includes baked potato, coleslaw, toast and coffee. All proceeds benefit the Legion Auxiliary programs.

Come back on Sunday for the Omelet Breakfast! Same location, different time. Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to noon the American Legion Riders will host an omelet breakfast. You pick the ingredients and watch the chefs cook. Cost is $9.00 and includes an omelet, toast, hash browns, coffee, juice and milk. There will also be a bake sale. Speaking from experience, I can say this is one of the best breakfast values in the northwest suburbs!

Peppin’s MinnTriv

Thank you to everyone who participated in the last Peppin’s MinnTriv Question. The question was: With the weather of the past week, outdoor enthusiasts are thrilled that it feels as though winter has officially arrived. Approximately how many miles of groomed snowmobile trails does Minnesota have? The answer is over 22,000 miles.

Congratulations to Rich Whitcomb from Rogers who is last week’s winner.

Here is this week’s question:

International Falls earned this nickname for regularly being one of the coldest places in the United States.

The FOURTH correct response will be featured in next week’s e-mail update.
