EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – On Wednesday, December 13, 2017, Rep. Jenifer Loon, R-Eden Prairie, received the Early Education Champion of the Year Award from Close Gaps by 5, a nonprofit dedicated to closing our state’s achievement gap through targeted, early learning initiatives.  Rep. Loon, who chairs the House Education Finance Committee, authored legislation this session that increased investments for proven, targeted early learning programs for Minnesota kids and families.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for my work by Close Gaps by 5, and I appreciate working with them this session to improve early learning programs and access for our littlest learners and their families,” said Rep. Loon. “I will continue to advocate for proven, quality early learning initiatives for our kids, as well as other education policies that help improve student learning and close our state’s achievement gap. My focus is on ensuring all students have access to a world-class education right here in Minnesota.”

Close Gaps by 5 was formerly the Minnesota Early Learning Foundation.
