Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Veterans hold a special place in our hearts and minds and Veterans Day is a special opportunity to celebrate their service and sacrifice for our country. Did you know, there are 22 million veterans in the US? Today, 350,000 vets currently live in Minnesota and, locally, 3,300 are living in Cass County with 4,500 in Itasca County.
We’re also grateful for our active military members, all the men and women who have stepped up to serve our nation around the globe, as well as their devoted families. We are able to call ourselves the land of the free because of these brave Americans.
Thank you to the Northland Community School for inviting me to be part of their Veterans Day ceremony today in Remer. The procession by the VFW, songs by the choirs, and the drum corps were an amazing way to show our thanks for our veterans.
