Legislative Update (November 10, 2017)

Friday, November 10, 2017

Dear Neighbors,

Veterans Day

This weekend, as we do every November 11, we’ll observe and honor veterans on Veterans Day. This is such an important time to recognize the importance and sacrifice of all who have served to keep our country free.

Veterans Day reminds me of a very moving poem about the cost of war, In Flanders Fields.

Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

This poem from World War I is a reminder of some of the sacrifices and hardships our service men and women face when they sign up to serve their country. I’m continually in awe of the courage and bravery of those in the military. To all veterans and all who currently serve, thank you for all you do to keep us safe.

Anoka County Career Fair

Although it’s a few months away, the Anoka County Career Fair is searching for employers looking to fill jobs to take part in this event. I think it’s a great opportunity to connect our job creators with local residents looking for a career. If you’re a business owner and want to take part, please click here for more information. The event is February 7, and I’ll be sure to have more info as we get closer for individuals wishing to attend.

Please Contact Me

As always, please don’t hesitate to call or email if there’s anything I can do for you.

Enjoy your weekend, and be sure to thank a veteran!

Peggy
