Dear Neighbors,

Local Committee Hearing

I wanted to invite local residents to a hearing coming up. On Monday, September 25, the Subcommittee on Technology and Responsive Government is holding a meeting in Willmar to discuss the implementation of the new licensing and registration system, MNLARS. As chair of the subcommittee, I’m hoping to hear from folks who’ve experienced difficulties with updating license plates, getting new tabs, buying a new car, etc. so we can help the state fix the flaws plaguing this system.

The more we know about the issues, the better we can help the Department of Public Safety Vehicle Services Division look for solutions to rectify what has been a very bumpy rollout. If you’re interested in attending, we’re meeting at 1:00PM at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building Community Room (2200 23rd Street NE, Willmar, MN). Hope to see you there!

High School Page Program

The new school year means it’s time to start thinking about applying for the House high school page program. This is an opportunity for high school juniors to spend a week in St. Paul assisting in all aspects of the legislative process. They get to meet with legislators, help out in committee and during floor sessions, and gain firsthand experience in state government.

You can find more information about applying at this link. Applications are due December 1!
