After an extensive four-year-long restoration, the Minnesota State Capitol has been returned to its original beauty, and will officially open its doors to the people again this weekend. To observe this special occasion, there will be a Grand Opening Celebration held the weekend of August 11th, 12th, and 13th (this weekend). Minnesotans will be welcomed back to the People’s House, one of the most magnificent state capitols in the nation, and reacquainted with the Capitol’s renewed beauty and newly restored public spaces.
The celebration will have something for everyone – fireworks, concerts, demonstrations by the craftsmen who worked on the restoration, behind the scenes tours, and much more. Most of the events are free, or offered at very little cost. I hope you have time to visit your newly restored Capitol.
