ST. PAUL, Minn. — Representative Dan Fabian, R-Roseau, who chairs the Minnesota House Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance Committee, released the following statement regarding the significant price range increase approved by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission for the “social cost” of carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.
“In my opinion, the recent decision by the PUC will result in higher energy costs for families, schools, small businesses and Minnesotans across the state. This marks another example of state agencies going above and beyond to make doing business in Minnesota more burdensome and puts up expensive roadblocks to building reliable and cost effective power plants in our state.
“This decision once again reflects why I am advocating for legislation that would bring more regional balance to the PUC and provide much-needed reform.”
