Friends,
I hope you have had an enjoyable summer and have been able to take in the beautiful Minnesota weather. I've been able to spend time in and around Shakopee with family, friends, and many constituents. Shakopee has so many great attractions that it brings in people from the metro-area and all over the state during the summer and fall months that we are lucky to call it home and I am proud to Shakopee in St. Paul.

New Laws go into Effect
The 2017 Legislative Session was one of the most productive in recent history. A good number of laws passed went into effect on July 1st, including allowing sales of alcohol on Sundays in the state of Minnesota for the first time in history! For the complete list of laws that went into effect on July 1st, click here. Another batch of laws will go into effect next week on August 1st, you can see that list here.
Reminder: Capitol Grand Opening Celebration
After a $310 million restoration and four years of work, the Minnesota State Capitol is open to the public. To commemorate this special occasion and to invite Minnesotans back to the People’s House, there will be a Grand Opening Celebration held on August 11, 12, and 13. The celebration will have something for everyone – fireworks, concerts, demonstrations by the artisans that worked on the restoration, behind the scenes tours, and much more. Most of the events are free, or offered at a very low cost. Please mark your calendars and plan to celebrate the People’s House this summer!
