ST. PAUL, MN -- Rep. John Poston (R-Lake Shore), issued the following statement congratulating area 2017 Farm Families of the Year and Century Farms.
“Congratulations to these family farms for being recognized for their commitment to our communities!” said Poston. “The agricultural industry is an important economic driver for our state and they deserve recognition.”
The Farm Family Recognition Program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension; the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Sciences; and the College of Veterinary Medicine, and recognizes families from Minnesota's 87 counties who have made significant contributions to Minnesota agriculture and their communities. Farm Family recognition day will take place on Thursday, August 3rd at Farmfest.
2017 award winners from District 9A are:
- Cass County: Bell Rawhide Ranch-Roy and Tamara Bell
- Todd County: Lee and Laurie Paskewitz Family
- Wadena County: Neal Farms
The honoring of Century Farms is coordinated by the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau; to qualify, the farm must have had continuous family ownership for at least 100 years and be on 50 acres or more.

- Todd County: David E. and Celesta I. Kyar, and Kortan
