Happy 4th of July!

Celebrating Independence Day last year with the Greenbush American Legion and Auxiliary at the 4th of July Parade

 

At the International Legislators Forum in Winnipeg with leaders from Manitoba, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota 

Dear Neighbor,

Happy Fourth of July! I hope you have a great holiday celebrating the independence of our nation with loved ones, barbeques and of course, fireworks!

We are blessed to live in the land of the free because of the bravery of those who founded and fought for our nation, as well as the veterans and active military who defended and continue to defend our freedoms at home and across the globe.

The Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness..."

These words hold as much meaning today as when they were written more than 200 years ago!

Phase II ATV Trail Meeting

 

I was happy to attend an informational hearing on the Phase II trails proposal on Wednesday evening in Warroad. Around 80 ATV enthusiasts attended the meeting and shared their overall support of the plan which would expand trail access in Beltrami State Forest. I’m glad to see the DNR was receptive to public comments so they could hear directly from the folks using the trails and find ways to make improvements.

Additionally, there was also discussion about the need to expand the plan to open a .7 mile route that is currently open to snowmobiles to also include ATVs, connecting northern and southern parts of the forest. There will need to be coordination with the DNR and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to get this done and I hope they do. I am a strong supporter of the expansion of trails, including the .7 mile connection in Beltrami Island State Forest.
