Legislative Update

A Balanced and Compromise Budget to Governor Dayton's Desk

Friends,

On Friday morning, the Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate concluded the special session, passing the final bills that comprise the 2018-2019 budget. You can watch my video talking about the end of session here.

Minnesotans sent us to Saint Paul to get results and that’s exactly what we did. We delivered historic tax relief while making great investments in our roads and bridges, schools, and bringing needed reforms to state government. In a divided government, no one gets everything they want but I am especially proud of the results House Republicans were able to deliver for Greater Minnesota.

The Republican-led tax bill will mean more than $650 million in tax relief—the largest tax cut in nearly two decades. It includes relief for seniors on social security, college graduates with student loan debt, and property tax relief for farmers and Minnesota businesses. In addition, Republicans championed and the legislature approved the largest investment in road and bridge infrastructure in a state history without an increase in the gas tax or license tab fees.

Transportation Omnibus Bill

The transportation bill makes the largest investment in Minnesota's history without raising taxes. This was done using existing resources and prioritizing our roads and bridge projects. This is exactly what we were sent to St. Paul to do: prioritize what's good for all Minnesotans over the pet projects of a few.
