RELEASE: State Government Finance bill passes House, heads to governor's desk

Thursday, May 25, 2017

ST. PAUL – Today the Minnesota House of Representatives passed the State Government Finance Omnibus Bill Conference Committee Report (Special Session SF1) on a 99-32 vote. The compromise agreement prioritizes veterans, increases accountability and transparency, and slows the double digit increases in state government spending.

“We crafted a budget that the House, Senate, and Governor’s Office will all be able to support,” said Rep. Sarah Anderson, R-Plymouth, Chair of the State Government Finance Committee and author of the bill. “With this compromise we are putting an end to double digit state agency increases, while still funding our shared priorities and making state government more efficient and accountable.”

The bill also contains key reforms to increase state agency transparency and accountability to the public through greater reporting and prioritizes helping those who have fought to protect our country.

The Senate passed the bill earlier Thursday evening and is now on its way to the governor.
