The latest from St. Paul

Dear Neighbor,

We are now nearing the final 12 hours of the legislative session before required adjournment. Work continues providing the governor with a complete second series of agency finance bills for Minnesota’s next two-year budget cycle.

Discussions continue between the House, Senate and governor as we work out the final details on items that we believe will be acceptable to both the legislature and the governor. We worked late last night and have sent a number of those bills to his desk already. The rest are in the queue for action today.

We are making tough decisions, sorting out the wants from the real needs. Deadlines have a way of producing results.

Work continues to reach agreement on three major items that remain under discussion, a well-funded long range transportation plan, a major tax reform package and a strong bonding bill.

We have been working on the state budget for five months now and the Legislature is striving to work out agreements with the governor on the last of the details so we can send him another complete budget.

Sincerely,

Dale
