Dear Neighbors,

We find ourselves late in the legislative session and we are sending multiple budget bills to the Governor and he should have all the bills on his desk Monday. These are bills that were debated between the House and the Senate, and we’re now sending to the governor. It’s disappointing the governor has chosen to sit out this week instead of negotiating, but I remain confident we can come to a bipartisan compromise.

I am planning on arriving back to the Capitol early Monday and we are staying here until the work is done. I promise I will do all I can to bring a quality education bill, long-term transportation bill, and a bonding bill that includes our kids mental health hospital and bike trail from Sibley to New London. And, of course, we must pass a budget for the next two years that funds health care, public safety, and environment, and prioritizes tax relief.

I am committed more than ever to get our work done on time and will engage all leaders in that spirit of cooperation. When we have a divided (or balanced) government you can expect things get bumpy in the final days. Please know we are fighting for the best policy and how to spend your tax dollars most efficiently.

I once again wish to all our amazing moms a very happy Mother’s Day and to enjoy this weather that is predicted. I want to wish a special Happy Mother's Day to my amazing mom, Edna! To our fisher men and women, all the best luck!

I look forward to communicating our work outcomes near the end of the session.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Dave
