News From Representative Kresha 5-5-2017

Friday, May 5, 2017

Dear Neighbors,

Please, get outside and enjoy this weather while you can. You never know when we’ll get a rogue May snowstorm. Just kidding, of course; spring is here, and this weekend will finally prove it.

Earlier this week, I was happy to see Governor Dayton sign my bill into law. My legislation, HF400, bars the state of Minnesota from engaging in business contracts with companies or organizations who discriminate against Israeli companies.

I’m extremely happy to see wide bipartisan backing and the governor’s signature to help this anti-discrimination language become law. It's pretty widely accepted that discriminating against the Jewish people – or anyone for that matter – is not a practice the state of Minnesota should engage in. Taxpayers deserve to know their tax dollars are being used to support contracts of businesses and organizations who do not support discrimination.

We’ve also seen good news regarding the state’s budget. The House and the Senate quickly came together to agree on our large budget bills. We’re way ahead of schedule compared to every session I’ve seen. Now we just need Governor Dayton to sit down with the legislature and negotiate a budget that works for Minnesotans.

As always, feel free to contact me if you need anything. I’m always here to help you, and hope you’ll reach out if you need anything.

Have a great, warm weekend,

Ron
