Legislative Update: Negotiations Continue

Friday, April 28, 2017

Friends,

Negotiations between the House and Senate continue in conference committees. Targets have been agreed to on all the budget bills as can be seen in the chart below. Also included in this weeks update are a few pictures from visitors to the Capitol and the weekly "this day in History." Have a great weekend!

Joint Budget Targets Set

As you can see, the House and Senate have come to agreements on funding priorities while still returning over a billion dollars in long overdue tax relief to Minnesotans. With these budget targets set, our hope is that Governor Dayton will come to the table so we can get our work done in a transparent and open process.

Education Funding

I have heard from many constituents about the importance of funding education and I couldn't agree more. Following historic investments made last session in education, the K-12 plan the House passed invests another $1.1 billion of new funds into making sure Minnesota students receive a world-class education. You can see more on what our plan does here. Great quality schools is one of my top priorities and you can count on me to fight to make sure the resources are there to make sure every student receives a world-class education.

On this day in History

In 1945, Benito Mussolini, dictator of Italy during World War Two, was captured and executed along with his mistress while attempting to flee to the Swiss border.
