REP. MILLER VOTES FOR PRO-LIFE PROPOSALS IN MINNESOTA HOUSE

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

ST. PAUL – State Representative Tim Miller (R-Prinsburg) said he was pleased to support a pair of pro-life provisions that were approved by the Minnesota House recently.

“As citizens, we value life and protect all forms of human life,” Miller said. “These two measures brought forward are recognition that of that fact. Most residents do not want their tax dollars spent against their will to help pay for abortions.”

The first bill prohibits funding for abortions from state-sponsored health programs that are administered by the Department of Human Services. The second bill requires any clinic that performs ten or more abortions each month to be licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health, and those facilities must comply with all inspections.

“Though we cannot stop the actions today, it should be reasonable for anyone to inspect facilities that are performing abortions,” Miller said. “A woman’s health is at risk, and most certainly her baby’s health is at risk, so an inspection of an abortion facility should be a reasonable expectation for the citizens of Minnesota.”

Miller said both pro-life proposals were approved with bipartisan support in the Minnesota House.
