Lueck appointed to ag. conference committee

Tuesday, April 18, 2017

ST. PAUL – Rep. Dale Lueck, R-Aitkin, has been named to a joint legislative committee that will prepare for final passage a bill to fund the agriculture portion of the state’s next two-year budget.

Lueck, a beef producer by trade and member of the House Agriculture Policy Committee for the 2017-18 biennium, joins four House colleagues and five Senate members on the bipartisan conference committee. The panel will be working out differences between House and Senate omnibus agriculture finance proposals passed by the respective bodies.

“It is an honor to be selected by the House to participate in the process of solving this part of our state budget,” Lueck said. “The ag. bill received unanimous approval during preliminary passage, so we have a solid starting point as we look to come out with a finished product worthy of continued bipartisan support.”

Once the conference committee completes its work, the report will head to the House and Senate for final approval. If passed by both bodies, the bill (SF780) will be sent to the governor for his signature to become law.
