Statement from Rep. Bud Nornes re: House Republican budget proposal

Monday, March 20, 2017

ST. PAUL – House Republicans announced their budget targets Monday, headlined by $1.35 billion in tax relief for Minnesota families, $450 million in new funding for road and bridge infrastructure, and an overall budget target that ensures a sustainable level of state spending for the next biennium. Below is a statement from Rep. Bud Nornes, R-Fergus Falls, in response.

“The House budget proposal has several goals,” Nornes said. “One of them is to slow the growth of state government and a second one is to provide tax relief to our taxpayers in various areas, including agriculture. As far as higher education, which I chair in the House, the focus is still on students and helping to reduce the burden on their student debt and making the experience affordable.”
