Greetings from the Capitol!

Yesterday, I hosted lunch at the capitol for 8 UPS Store owners and 5 executives including the president from our franchisor in San Diego. They were able to see democracy in action with a large gathering in the capitol rotunda.

This morning I spoke at the University of Minnesota Alumni Legislative Breakfast. It was great to be able to connect with so many great Gopher alumni interested in the legislative process.

Twin Cities Marathon:

694 Rice Street Bridge Project:

Senator Jason Isaccson, Representative Jamie Becker-Finn, and I met with officials from MnDOT last Friday regarding possible designs for the 694 Rice Street Bridge project.

There will be a public comment period about the project on Tuesday, February 21st from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Vadnais Heights Commons (655 E. County Rd. F).  Please attend and participate if you are able.

Bills I am working on:

This week, I testified to a bill I chief-authored (House File 997) in the Government Operations and Elections Policy Committee. This bill streamlines the process for cities and counties to pay vendors. This bill is now headed to the General Register for a vote by the entire House of Representatives.

Does State Government Owe You Money?:

Each year, the Minnesota Department of Commerce receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property. The property is turned over to the state by businesses, banks, etc., as they are not able to locate the rightful owner.

The Department now has a program designed to find missing money and/or financial property and reunite it with the rightful owner. I am a co-author on a piece of legislation that would require the Department of Commerce to more actively seek out the folks that are owed money and/or property.

Check out this link to see if Minnesota owes you money.
