Governor Dayton’s budget calls for a $2.1 billion increase in taxes
SAINT PAUL – Following review of Governor Dayton’s all funds budget, which calls for over a $1 billion increase in taxes and fees for the 2018-19 biennium and a $2.1 billion tax increase for the 2020-21 biennium, Rep. Sarah Anderson, R-Plymouth, Chair of State Government Finance Committee released the following statement:
“Governor Dayton’s insatiable appetite for tax and fee increases breaks the back of middle class Minnesotans. At a time of a $1.4 billion surplus, the Governor continues to demand more from working families. His latest budget includes $1 billion in tax and fee increases for fiscal year 2018-19 and another $2.1 billion tax increase in the next biennium. Tax increases that hit those who can least afford it. I will work with my colleagues to present a far more reasonable budget that respects hardworking Minnesota families.”
