90th Legislative Session Begins

Friday, January 6, 2017

Dear Neighbor,

The 90th legislative session began Tuesday this week with all newly elected and
re-elected House and Senate members taking the oath administered by Minnesota
Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Gildea.

It was humbling to begin my second term continuing to serve our great community
by representing our shared values and priorities in the MN House of
Representatives.

COMMITTEES and PRIORITIES

I'm honored to have been appointed to serve on three committees this term:
Transportation Finance, Civil Law and Data Practices, and Public Safety &
Security Policy and Finance. Increased funding for roads and bridges transportation such as the 3-lane expansion of I-94 to Albertville, equity in education funding for our children, and repealing and replacing MNsure with free-market health care solutions are among my top priorities along with pro-life, protecting our 2nd Amendment rights, and tax cuts.

DEMOCRATS BLOCK ACTION ON HEALTH CARE PREMIUM RELIEF

All throughout 2016 hardworking Minnesotans have been clamoring for relief from the crushing hardships caused by failed Obamacare and MNsure and Republicans heard Minnesotans loud and clear. On Thursday this week the House Republican majority moved to declare an urgency seeking to pass the 2017 Health Care Emergency Aid and Access bill that would have provided health insurance premium relief, extended access to doctors for continuity of care, and begin to reform and improve the health insurance individual market. Unfortunately, Democrats blocked the measure to expedite premium relief for Minnesotans citing, in part, that MNsure is working much better now.

Despite Democrats repeated failure to be responsive to the hardships of families and businesses across Minnesota, Republicans are resolved to provide quick relief and reform by replacing MNsure with free-market solutions that will drive costs down and improve quality and choice in health insurance.

As always, I want to hear your thoughts and feedback on how I can best represent
you. Please contact me any time.

Sincerely,

Eric Lucero
