RELEASE: Representative Layman Sworn-in as State Representative

SAINT PAUL, MN—Representative Sandy Layman, R-Cohasset, was officially sworn-in for her second term Tuesday as the legislature began the 2017 session in St. Paul. Legislators took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court Lorie Gildea in the House Chamber. Layman will represent District 5B which includes most of Itasca County, as well as a portion of Cass County.

“I’m extremely honored to represent my area at the Capitol, and be a voice for residents throughout District 5B,” said Layman. “The upcoming legislative session is a chance for us to improve our state through healthcare reform, middle class tax relief, and creating a responsible state budget. I welcome any insight or suggestions for ways to help Minnesota or my district.”

Layman, who was elected to her first term this past November, was named Vice Chair of the Legacy Funding Finance Committee, and will also serve on the Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance, Job Growth and Energy Affordability Policy and Finance Committees, as well as the Subcommittee on Mining, Forestry, and Tourism.
