RELEASE: Rep. Smith Sworn in for Second Term in Legislature

SAINT PAUL, MN—Representative Dennis Smith, R-Maple Grove, was officially sworn-in Tuesday as the legislature began the 2017 session in St. Paul. Legislators took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court Lorie Gildea in the House Chamber. Smith will continue representing District 34B which includes Maple Grove and Osseo City.

"I'm grateful to return to the legislature and continue serving the residents of Maple Grove and Osseo," Smith said. "I'm looking forward to working with my colleagues on addressing healthcare costs, invest in roads and bridges, and focus on the priorities of all Minnesotans."

Smith, who was first elected in 2014, was again named Vice Chair of the Civil Law & Data Practices. He will also serve on the Commerce & Regulatory Reform Committee, the Education Finance Committee, and Rules & Legislative Administration Committee.

Smith, an attorney, lives in Maple Grove with his wife, Sandra. They have two children.
