ST. PAUL, MN— On Tuesday, Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, named Rep. Dennis Smith, R-Maple Grove, as Vice-Chair of the Civil Law and Data Practices Committee. Rep. Smith served as vice-chair of the committee during the 2015-2016 sessions. The committee will be chaired by Rep. Peggy Scott, R-Andover.
“I’m honored to be re-appointed as vice-chair, and look forward to tackling important issues – like REAL ID – in the committee process,” said Smith.
Along with his appointment to Civil Law and Data Practices Committee, Smith will also serve on the Commerce and Regulatory Reform, Education Finance, and Rules and Legislative Administration Committees.
Smith, who was first elected in 2014, will be sworn in for his second term in January when the 2017 legislative session officially begins.
