Rep. Tama Theis to Serve on Committees that Champion Students and Schools, Find Solutions to Lower Health Care Costs for Families

Saint Paul, MINN— On Tuesday, December 20, 2016, House Republicans unveiled committee assignments for the 2017-2018 legislative sessions. Representative Tama Theis (R-St. Cloud) was named to four committees: Government Operations and Elections Policy, Education Finance, Health and Human Services Reform, and the Subcommittee on Aging and Long-Term Care. Theis was appointed by House Speaker Kurt Daudt, R-Crown, to serve as the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Aging and Long-Term Care.

“There is a lot of work to be done next session, and I look forward to passing commonsense policies that work for folks in Central Minnesota and across the state,” said Rep. Theis. “Serving on these committees provides me with a wonderful opportunity to work directly on a number of our shared priorities including addressing our state’s health care cost crisis, providing Minnesota kids with a world-class education and advocating for our most vulnerable. It’s an honor to serve my community, and I welcome your input as we begin to craft legislation and work toward meaningful solutions to address many of our state’s pressing needs.”

The legislative session is set to begin January 3, 2017.
