The snow has started to fall, and it looks like we’re in for quite a winter weekend. If you’re commuting home tonight, or heading out this weekend, be careful and safe, and always give plows enough room to clear the streets. Maple Grove issued a helpful reminder about snow removal ahead of this weekend’s storm, if you’re interested. Again, stay safe and warm out there!
610 Opens!
The extension of 610 from Elm Creek Blvd. to 94 recently opened up after years of construction. Although it might seem packed tonight due to the storm, we’re certainly very grateful to have this improved highway in our area; it’s been a welcomed change for Maple Grove residents. There is still more we can do to improve traffic flow on this road. This session, I’ll continue my sponsorship of a bill to fully connect 610, rather than just a partial connection, as it is now. It’s such an important stretch of highway for our community, and I look forward to working to improve our local roads and bridges.
Special Session
Legislative leaders and the governor have been in contact about a possible special session to provide relief for those paying huge amounts for their health insurance. Unfortunately, the governor walked out of negotiations after just 17 minutes, making special session more difficult. Thankfully, the legislature resumes on January 3, and we’ll look to tackle rising healthcare and premium costs early in session.
