ST. PAUL, Minn.—On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, House Republicans unveiled new committee chairs of the 2017-2018 legislative session. Representative Sarah Anderson, R-Plymouth, was once again named Chair of the State Government Finance Committee, a role she has held since 2015.
“It is an honor to hold this responsibility on behalf of all Minnesotans, and I promise to continue working hard to rein in spending, make state government more efficient and effective, and ensure accountability to hardworking taxpayers,” said Rep. Anderson. “I am proud of the things we accomplished over the past two years, and I will work to build on those successes when we reconvene in January.”
In 2015-2016, Chair Anderson led the way in the State Government Finance Committee to reduce property taxes for Minnesotans by making key changes to county audits, supported Minnesota veterans, worked to stop 33 percent pay raises for political appointees and challenged the governor on excessive severance payouts for his politically appointed commissioners. Her legislation also supported healthy eating initiatives for low-income families and worked to improve financial literacy.
“I am pleased we were able to successfully implement meaningful reforms and check government growth in 2015-16, and I look forward to getting back to work for the people of Minnesota,” added Rep. Anderson.
