REP. CORNISH NAMED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

Tuesday, November 22, 2016

ST. PAUL – Minnesota Speaker of the House Kurt Daudt has re-appointed State Representative Tony Cornish (R-Vernon Center) as Chairman of the Minnesota House Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance Committee.

“I’m pleased to have once again been appointed chairman of this very important committee,” Cornish said. “Now more than ever we need to support those who enforce our laws and protect Minnesotans, and I look forward to crafting legislation that does just that.”

Having spent most of his adult life working in law enforcement, Cornish believes he is well suited for the job.

Cornish said the Minnesota House Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance Committee oversees and funds all areas within public safety, including the court system, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and other corrections and justice programs. As his committee covers anything related to training and mandated policies for police, he expects this session to be quite busy.

Cornish was recently elected to his 8th term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He previously served as chair of the public safety committee in 2011-2012, and 2015-2016.
