Update From St. Paul

Friday, November 18, 2016

Dear Neighbors,

I’m honored to serve our community in the House of Representatives for two more years. We’ve gotten lots accomplished in the last biennium, and I look forward to the challenges that a new term brings. It’s time to get back to work for Minnesotans, and I’m truly grateful to be your voice at the Capitol.

Maple Grove High School Incident

You’ve likely seen the disgusting, racist graffiti at Maple Grove High School following the recent election. This is extremely disappointing, offensive, and clearly has no place in our schools or community. Rather than creating further divisions, it’s more important than ever to come together. I’m encouraged by the swift and resounding response by the student body against this incident, as they condemn this type of divisive and hateful act.

Looking Forward

The next legislative session will be here before we know it, and that brings great opportunity to help our state. First, we’ll need to find a way to fix the negative effects of Obamacare and MNsure in Minnesota. Middle class families are paying unaffordable prices for lesser insurance than they had just a couple years ago. We need to come together – across party lines – and find common-sense solutions to this growing problem.

We’ll also have an opportunity to pass a tax relief bill. Last year, the House and Senate passed a bill to benefit small business owners, veterans, working families, and recent college grads. Governor Dayton vetoed the bill, but a new legislative session is a chance to provide this overdue tax relief.
