ROCHESTER, MN – Starting on Monday, September 18, Minnesota will highlight and raise awareness of farmer safety during “Farm Safety and Health Week”. Rep. Nels Pierson, R-Rochester, issued the following statement on Farm Safety and Health Week.
“Growing up on a farm, I learned from a young age it can be a dangerous profession,” said Pierson. “When I was young, my community was shaken by the loss of a young farmer in our area. I personally know the risks farmers take every day to put food on our tables.”
This session, the legislature passed a bill to create a voluntary tractor rollover protection program to combat the leading cause of death and injury for agriculture workers.
