RELEASE: Rep. Dettmer statement on August 11th Veterans Listening Session

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

St. Paul, MN-August 11th, State Representative Bob Dettmer (R-Forest Lake) held a veterans listening session on at the Stillwater and Forest Lake American Legions.

These meetings were part of a series of meetings held throughout Minnesota to discuss veterans legislation that passed during the 2015 - 2016 session, specifically, the veterans pension tax exemption (the most significant veterans tax cut in recent history). Rep. Dettmer, chair of the Minnesota House of Representatives Veterans Affairs Committee, issued the following statement:

"Minnesota made historic leaps forward on veterans issues this past legislative session, including making veterans retirement benefits tax-exempt," said Dettmer. "A big thank you to everyone from our area who came out to the American Legions for the veterans listening sessions. The discussion was great, and I enjoyed the conversations I had with so many people from our local veterans community. If there are any additional questions or comments people have regarding veterans issues, or any other legislative area, please don't hesitate to contact my office!"
