Legislative Update (July 22, 2016)

Friday, July 22, 2016

Dear Neighbor,

Because of a 60-day, post-session rule, this will be my last email update for a couple months. Now that we’re finished with my first two sessions, I wanted to thank you for your calls, emails, and visits. I truly appreciate chatting with you.

Although we’re out of the legislative session, I’m currently working on a number of projects this summer including:

  • Rapid reverse bus transit to get employees to the many jobs here in Shakopee.
  • A financial literacy program through the CAP agency to teach families money management.
  • Along with the Shakopee Police finding a use for recovered stolen but unclaimed bikes. The Honor Society will organize painting them and having them available for students to use to bike to school.
  • Prison release program to solve the employment problem locally and create an employment bridge for qualified inmates to self-sustain once they are released.
  • Meaningful insurance fraud reforms to reduce the cost of insurance for all of us.

I want to thank all of you who either came over to the Capitol to advocate and observe, and to those who contacted me through email or calling. My phone gets answered, letters and email get responded to, and my door is open.

You can call me at 651-296-8872, email me at rep.bob.loonan@house.mn, or send a letter to 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. St. Paul, MN 55155.

Have a great summer and stay in touch,

Bob
