REP. RARICK CONGRATULATES AREA FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR RECIPIENTS

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

ST. PAUL – Minnesota's 'Farm Families of the Year' were unveiled by the University of Minnesota recently, and State Representative Jason Rarick (R-Pine City) is congratulating this year's recipients.

"All of these families have made significant contributions to the success of agriculture in our House district and our state, and I'm pleased they have been recognized with this honor," Rarick said.

Kanabec County's recipients are Don and Mary Olson. Don and his sons Paul and Eric raise 550 acres each of corn and soybeans, and also operate a 250,000 bushel grain drying and storage business on the east side of Mora. Mary is a veterinarian and one of four partners at East central Veterinarians.

Randall and Pamela Hinze receive the award in Pine County this year. The Hinze’s are the fourth generation to farm the family land, which consists of 720 acres with an additional 32 that is rented. They grow corn, soybeans, alfalfa, hay and wheat. The Hinze’s also milk 40 Holsteins and have another 40 young stock along with several horses.

“Congratulations to the Olson’s and the Hinze’s on this well-deserved honor, and for their continued contributions to Minnesota agriculture,” Rarick concluded.
